Featured Seller of the Week!

adornbyamysingley

Where do you get your inspiration?
Color and texture inspire me... I see a great bead or a new textured chaing and immediately I picture a new piece. I can't make something that I don't like. Sometimes I wish that I could because I'd probably be more successful. I feel that since my name is on it, it represents who I am and I want the customer to know that the piece they are getting is a quality piece.

What is your favorite piece of jewelry from your own shop?
Ugh... decisions, decisions... I have an all time favorite and it is the very 1st design I ever made. It is my Simply Elegant Breast Cancer Bracelet. My current fave is my Wrought Sterling Earrings. I love the architectural feel mixed with the softness of the pink. Yummy~

If you could buy anything on Etsy, what would it be?
There are 3 that come to mind immediately... the first is from your Aunt Laura's shop... LauraSlocumPainted.Etsy.com http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=21711795 I think that her watercolors are absolutely amazing and this piece is hands down my favorite. The second is from Phydeaux.Etsy.com Brenda makes the most amazing scarves. They are impeccably made and her eye for color is stunning; http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=21826076 The third is from KikiHuston.etsy.com she is an amazing artist and her work inspired by New Orleans (my old home) is spectacular... http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=18465042

What made you start making jewelry?
Well, almost 6 years ago, I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, had endured several surgeries and was undergoing chemo. My body was being poisoned but my mind and spirit were as creative as ever! I found that even though I was incredibly weak, I could bead for hours. I'd found a true calling.

Do you enjoy making jewelry?
ABSOLUTELY~ but... I have to be in the mood to do it. If I try to force a design, it looks forced. Some days I sit at my work table just looking at the beads for hours before a new design comes to me and other days my creativity just flows. I love the fact that people really like my creations, that they are well made and that they represent the person that I've become... a survivor...
